NEXT US TOO MEETING - TUESDAY, MARCH 13, 2001.

CAMPUS AUDITORIUM, WILLIAM OSLER HEALTH CENTRE, 7:00 - 9:00 P.M.
BRAMPTON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, 20 LYNCH STREET, BRAMPTON, ONTARIO.

Our guests for the evening will be the Canadian Cancer Society - Brampton Caledon unit. We will meet the new unit head, Theresa Culliton, who will receive a cheque from the proceeds of " No Big Deal? " Sue Short of the Society will discuss "Relay for Life" and how we can help.
In the second part of the evening, you will meet our current steering committee and they will take questions from the floor.

FEBRUARY MEETING
Wow! a PSA of 700 and here to tell us about the cure. Another member was diagnosed in 1989 with prostate cancer and found a cure in PC SPES. Close to 60 members, their wives and guests were treated to a very interesting and informative evening. Six members selected from a base of over 100 gave an excellent account of their unique survivor story. We would like to thank, in order of their appearance: Bill Dolighan, Don Guild, Bill Loney, Ian Smith, Fred Dalzell and Stew Cornell. Thank you, gentlemen, for a very professional preparation and presentation. From the response we got, we will do this again in the fall. There is also talk about documenting these stories for members.
We were also honoured to have visitors from the Newmarket support group attend our meeting, including C.P.C.N. Ontario Coordinator Derek Lawrence.
Don Davis of Richmond Hill also attended.

WHAT'S AHEAD
What can you expect in the coming months?
On May 8th, Urologist Jack Ward will discuss hormonal treatment for a rising PSA and how Etobicoke is adjusting to amalgamation. In addition we will
be honoured to have the Canadian Prostate Cancer Network chairman Curtis LeGrow and Derek Lawrence as our guests.
We are still working on April's meeting. Our fiscal year ends in June with a potluck get-together. Your suggestions for guest speakers would be appreciated.

NEW MEMBER MEETINGS
Joining our group this month: Don & Nan Oxley and Garry & Patricia Hughes. The next new member meeting will be Tuesday, March 13th in the small meeting room adjacent to the hospital auditorium, beginning at 6:00 p.m. All future new member meetings during 2001 will be held in the small room on the same night as regular meetings.

AWARENESS COMMITTEE
US TOO - Brampton believes there is more to making people aware of prostate cancer than the one week in September each year. We now are developing an ongoing awareness program spearheaded by coordinator Ian Smith. We will have an article in " Forever Young" this month and a continuing note in the Brampton Guardian. A kiosk at Wal-mart is a possibility.
A presentation to about 40 nurses from the Assurance Group is being planned.
Sean Butterly and Mike Loughnan are also on the committee, but Ian could use additional help from some retired survivors. What say guys ? Gals ?

GOLF COMMITTEE
First of all, we have a very enthusiastic golf committee this year. We have opened the tournament up to 72 golfers: members, friends and family. We will be trying for a shotgun start in the popular scramble format. There is also a possibility of having food after our round. Several golf courses are still being considered, but put this date down, all you would-be duffers: MONDAY JUNE 25, 2001.
Our objective is to have a good fellowship outing, but also attempt to raise funds for our treasury.
Golf shirts are also under consideration, a white shirt with our US TOO - Brampton logo on the breast has been suggested. Pinnacle Pharmaceutics has offered to assist us financially in this venture.

MEMBERSHIP DUES
My statement in last month's bulletin "Thirty - four members still owe the $10 annual membership fee. You know who you are" created a few ripples and complaints. I apologize if I caused anyone a problem. Last June the membership decided that the $10 fee was more than fair. Some chapters pass the hat at each meeting. We felt you should not be penalized for attending. The $10 fee is for paper, envelopes, computer-printer cartridges and stamps. Please let us know if you would like to be removed from our mailing list.
Enjoy the evening
.
