Next Us Too! General Meeting
Tuesday, February 11, 2003, 7:00 - 9:00 PM
Campus Auditorium, William Osler Health
Center, Brampton.
Us Too! Brampton invites you to a
fulfilling and interactive evening with our guest speaker:
Alex is a Psychotherapist with 30 years of "Helping Good People Get
Better"
Cancer is Physical and so is its treatment.
Though the disease is physical, recovery is a systemic or holistic
process.
Being aware of our feelings and expressing them is natural and good for
us.
The evening will focus on feelings that commonly accompany the diagnosis
and treatment of cancer
and Alex will demonstrate simple ways to express those feelings when it
suits us.
Bring along something to write with!
January 14, 2003 Meeting with Tony Clement,
Ontario Minister of Health
Over 75 members & guests listened to Mr. Clement speak
on the government's policy regarding improving facilities and reducing the
time that patients spend waiting for cancer treatment. He indicated that
more facilities incorporating "State of the Art" equipment will be built in
the Region of Peel and other surrounding areas to alleviate the present load
on Toronto hospitals.
The minister praised the C.P.C.N.'s 'Living Proof '
campaign as an excellent method of increasing public awareness of the
importance of early detection of prostate cancer. He singled out Us Too!
Brampton as a well organized cancer support group. He agreed later that an
"Information Room" is a growing necessity in Brampton and said that it will
be kept in mind as the new hospital is being built and the current one
refurbished.
A number of questions were entertained from the floor
and matters requiring further follow up were noted.
Our thanks to Raminder Gill, M.P.P. and Derek
Lawrence, Ontario Representative of CPCN for their participation at the
event and to the Brampton Guardian and Rogers Cable for their event
coverage.
